Analysis of 'American Beauty' opening sequence

We watched the opening of American Beauty and thought there were some aspects in the opening sequence that we could get inspiration from to use in our final opening sequence.
Firstly, we liked the score used, and thought we would have the ability to create something similar, however we didn't think the music would suit our simplistic film.
We also liked the voice over in the film and thought this was a good idea to use within our film opening. The voice over would be fairly easy to create and would create a good audio effect for the film which is typical of film openings.
Finally, we liked the aerial shot at the beginning and think this would be a good effect to use in a film, however, unachievable for our film.
However, we didn't like that the opening sequence used lots of acting and thought this wouldn't suit our simplistic ideas.

Analysis of 'Se7en' opening sequence

We watched the opening sequence of 'Se7en' hoping that this would help us achieve similar visual effects as this film belongs to a similar genre to ours.
Firstly, we examined the zoomed in simplistic actions in the sequence realising that these could be used to good effect, however we then realised that to achieve similar visual effects would be very difficult as we are lacking the expertise with using video editing software.
Another thing we thought was successful in this film were the credits used, the style, font and size could be a good option for us to use in our film as they fit in with the simplistic attitude used throughout.
Finally, the creepy, distorted non diegetic sound used in the film we also liked but thought that this would be too much eeriness for what we planned our film should actually be.
