Our Pitch

Our idea for a two minute opening sequence of a film deals mainly with the theme of a lost sense of belonging within a single character reflecting a wider sense of alienation in urban society. Our film opening will consist of three scenes featuring two actors - Jordan 22 year old male from Manchester and Ruben 4 year old boy who's relationship to Jordan is not immediately clear.

In the opening scene, our character is packing up his belongings ready for a new life (the location is undisclosed). After packing most of his valuable possessions into a rucksack, he places it down and proceeds to scour the house for his last treasured effects. He then comes across a couple of photographs stuck to a fairly bare notice board (a few takeaway menus and train tickets scattered across the board) . As he views the first photograph, of a wedding, an audio piece then begins to play to explain the visual image through sound. He then takes the photo off the board to reveal a name of a group member off the wall. The audio piece comes to an end and before he places the photo inside his bag before, we see the second group member's name on the back of the photo. Returning to the almost bare notice board, he sees his last remaining item of any worth, another photograph this time of Ruben. While looking at the photograph the scene then flashes back with the situation in the photograph brought to life. This flashback lasts for a few seconds, and ends with a screaming train flying across the screen to bring the character back to the present time. Our character then places his photos in the bag, takes a long last look at his apartment before another large train loudly screams across the screen again. The last shot will be of Jordan walking down an abandoned railway track into an uncertain future...........
